I choose the Roland TR - 808 drum kit because I wanted the Trap feel for the song. I wanted to reference the drums in a Kayne West production. Playboi Carti a rapper currently came out with an album called “Whole Lotta Red” which had Kayne on there but was also produced by Hip Hop Trap producers.

 

For my Rhythm and Bass I used my Akai LPK 25 to get the right key as I played by ear to pick out which key I wanted to start with. I started out with an F minor.

 

All chords used Em, Fm, Dm, and Fm.

 

For the melody I wanted to get a dark sounding vibe but also something like synth which gave it a vibe to where I am in the studio metaphorically in the kitchen being mentored by Full Sail.

 

Which leads to vocals, referenced by Playboi Carti.

 

I also mixed the vocals adding dynamics and timebase dynamics.
